Our History

Roundstone's 400 acres has been in the Grover family since 1877. Initially operating as an ochre mill, the land was mined for its natural clay earth pigment. The clay was transported via donkey and cart down the mountainside and taken to water turbines where it was ground with large round stones. It was then shipped by railcar to Philadelphia. The old railway runs through our property and is known as the main cabin road. The mill burned down in the 1930's but evidence of it still exists throughout the property today.
Jan Grover is the current owner of the RoundStone property. His father, Captain Niles L. Grover, was a WWII bomber pilot as well as a commercial airline pilot. Upon his retirement, he and Jan's mother, Birte "Chris" Grover, dedicated their lives to maintaining the land and running a well known fishing club for many years.
Today, we offer our beautiful property to the campers here at RoundStone. Book a stay for a secluded and primitive camping experience.
